Penguin Random House — Iconography
Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade book publisher, commissioned us to design a series of avatars for the divisions of its editorial group. The icons had to live in harmony with the famous penguin logo, designed in 1935 by Edward Young, and refined by Pentagram in 2003.
We took the stylistic features of the penguin and strictly applied them to the rest of icons. The outcome is a very distinctive and dynamic set of avatars, full of grid-based, organic shapes.
